One more get up and then.....

6 glorious days off work. I'm so excited. I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed (like who hasn't right) with trying to get everything done for Christmas, create lasting memories, start traditions that will become beloved, feel the true spirit of the season, work, church, being a mommy, etc etc. Is it just me or does it sometimes just seem like it all might consume you if you just stand still for a minute?

Some people seem to make it look easy. Just read some of the wonderful blogs right over there>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> to the right of this post. I was telling my husband the other day that I feel like a messy, unorganized closet. On the outside, everything looks good. All neat and tidy. But if you open the door, a pile of clothes and couple of pairs of shoes might hit you in the head. If you came to my house, you would probably say, "Gee, she keeps a pretty clean, lived in yes, but clean" but if you were to open the cupboard in the kitchen, the closets, or the garage you might run out screaming. In many areas of my life, I am very organized but these tasks have gotten away from me. So, I have decided that next year I am going to make a list of all the projects I want to get done. I will then make a goal of getting at least one done per month. Even if it's as small as organizing under the sink. I'm hoping that by writing it down, I can get it out of my head and on the way to being complete.

I just realized that I'm babbling on and on. It must be time for sleep. If you made it this far, congrats and goodnight.

I admire you.
Working full time and "getting it all done" is really really hard!!
You're a great woman with a great attitude!

What a great post.

I agree with b. I can't seem to get it all done, and I'm home all day!!!! You're absolutely right about possibly being consumed if you stand still I love your analogy with the closet.

Have a fabulous day.

Feel good that you can at least preserve the illusion of organization, my life, er, HOUSE, looks like all my cabinets threw up.
You have a good point too, it's only when I sit still and ponder for too long that I start to feel like I'm sinking. Kind of like "idle hands" yeah?

Yeah... my brother once told me that you could be whoever you wanted to be on the Internet. :) I may present a together front... no, wait... I don't do that! :) I take regularly scheduled blogging breaks so that my family can remember what the floor looks like and what a hot meal tastes like! I love your goal for the new year... I may have to adopt it for myself!
And 6 days off?! WOOHOO!! You enjoy every minute of those days! you deserve it girl!!

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine told me, "As a mother, Christmas is about 75% of your final grade--or at least that's the way it feels." I thought it was funny at the time, but since I've been reading about the Christmas stress that you and other moms have been feeling, I'm wondering if there isn't more truth to that statement than I originally thought.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll get an "A"--or at least a "B+". (and "A's" are over-rated, if you ask me)

Making a year projects list is a great idea, I need to do that too. And the closet analogy is perfect, especially this time of year when my closets runneth over!

YAY! Your six days off have begun, and I'm so very happy for you! :)

I laugh when people tell me how clean my home is, because I have secret-y places all over the house where stuff is thrown in and stashed, just waiting for the organizing that doesn't seem to come, haha! I love your idea of making a project list!

Have a wonderful and joyful Christmas...it doesn't have to be perfect! :)
