Good, old fashioned fun

We had a great time last night. Our family joined many other families in our ward for our very first ward campout. It was soooo much fun. We stayed at this really cute little campground in our tent. This was the first time in a tent for Blake and he thought it was really cool. I've never seen a kid play and play so much and have so much fun. Tons of kids, tons of food, tons of good friends and good old fashioned fun.

We combined a primary activity and we played games like tug-o-war, 3 legged race, cupcake eating contest, water balloon toss and many others. They were originally going to be just for the primary but of course the adults got involved as well. We played against each other and we even had a tug-o-war contest with another ward that happened to be there. They didn't even stand a chance. It turns out that we are super strong. I'm actually sore from all the playing. Who needs aerobics when you have tug-o-war.

I forgot my camera so I don't have pictures but I know that a lot of people took some so maybe I'll get some later. Camping is my kind of good, old fashioned fun.

Beach Trip

We've been home for a week but I'm just now getting around to blogging about our wonderful beach vacation. This time we stayed on the Bay. We had a great time. It was relaxing and the weather was perfect. It was just what the doctor ordered.

Here is the view from our condo. The beach was just a short few yards away.
Here's Blake making Sand angels. Blake and I in front of our beach fire. The beach was full of drift wood and it made the perfect fire. We made some yummy Smore's and it didn't even matter if there was a little sand in them.

If you look closely on the right of the tree you will see one of the several bald eagles that lived across the road and loved to swoop around on the air flow above the bay. Here's the campfire again.
This beach was perfect for Blake. I didn't have to worry about the bigger waves as he ran in and out of the water.
Play and pure joy in action.

The little girl I always wanted

The Kelley family would like to introduce you to the newest member of our family. She was born June 1st, 2008 and weighs in now at whopping 2 or 3 lbs. Drum roll please.........

Here's Little Ms. Lexie (also known as baby girl by Blake)

Please don't be fooled by her cuteness. She can scream louder than anything I have ever heard in my life when it's nighttime and she wants out of her crate to play. Needless to say we're not getting much sleep around here the last few nights. If it weren't for the fact that my son is already head over heals for her, I just might be looking for the return policy. It is just like having a newborn baby. We weren't supposed to get her until August 1st but Mom could no longer nurse so we decided to take her early. I'm such a sucker.
And no, it's not lost on me that we didn't use any of the names in the poll. A girl can change her mind right? Actually, the lady we got her from was calling her that and Blake has a little friend from preschool that he adores named Lexie and so there you have it.
Pray for me people really. I have read everything I can get my hands on, watched every episode of The Dog Whisperer and I still don't have a clue what I'm doing. It's actually a lot like motherhood for me..LOL

We're getting a puppy

I know, I'm as surprised as you are..LOL
We have been looking for a few months and we've finally found her. She is a 5 weeks old Puggle (beagle/puggle mix) and will be coming home with us August 1st. We met her yesterday for the first time on our way to the beach (which, by the way, is AWESOME). Now we need some help naming her. Here are a couple of pictures and the poll is over here---------------------------->

No gaurentee that we'll use any of these because you never know what will stick once we get her

Hi..Ho..Hi..Ho..it's off to the beach we go

We had great 4th of July weekend. GOD BLESS AMERICA this land that I love. I also survived my very first sharing time in primary. Who knew that a room full of kids under twelve could be so intimidating?
We are off to spend 5 days and 4 nights at the beach. It's my favorite place to go to decompress and I need some serious decompressing. It will be great to get away from it all. Away from work. away from housework. away from church responsibilities (even though I love them). Just me and the boys and nothing but time. We rented a condo by the bay. I don't know if it has Internet access or not so I may be gone for awhile.
So if you are looking for us, we'll be here.
Getting all relaxified.

Holy "missed it" Batman

Nancyface just made me realize that I missed my very first Bloggiversary. I started blogging June 27, 2007. This is for sure the longest that I've kept up with any form of journal. I have much more to say about what this blog has meant to me but I don't have the time right now. I'll be back soon to celebrate this special "belated" occasion.

Thanks for the reminder Nancy.

Side note: T minus 16 hours until VACATION!!!!
