It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Tis the season to be busy..LOL Well, another busy weekend but we got quite a bit done and had some fun in the process.

Blake made his requests to the big man in red.

The Tree is up and ready to go. It actually went up without much drama. We went with a real one again this year. I don't know if we'll ever follow through with our threat to get a fake one.

The cards are going out in the mail today and I am going to start wrapping the presents tonight. I can't believe it's only 15 days until Christmas. This time of year goes by so fast. I'm trying hard not to get stressed and try to enjoy it all. We're trying to focus on what the season is really all about.
How's everyone else doing? Do you feel like it's hard to keep up with all that needs to get done and still keep the spirit of Christmas? What do you do to keep the focus on Christ and not Santa? Can you tell I need ideas? :o)

I'm not ready!!!!! I just think of all the presents hidden throughout the house and get worried I won't remember where I stashed them all!!

I'm pretty close to being done. I would be done, but, um, they just recalled the gift I got for hubby. ARGH!!
As for keeping the spirit of Christ... we let the kids buy a few toys and then donate them to Toys for Tots. We let them put money in the Salvation Army buckets every time we pass one. We talk about Christ's birth whenever we can. Tonight we are going to start reading the story of Samuel the Lamanite for FHE. One thing that I'm doing this year that I'm excited about.... I got the Fisher Price Nativity set. My kids will be able to rearrange that thing and act out the story with the pieces and I'm so excited I can hardly stand myself :) Sorry... this is long! I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think it's the little things that make a difference. They gradually build up till hopefully, one day, they really truely get it. That's my hope :)

The tree looks beautiful. Glad Blake got to go see Santa ; )

We have always done the Twelve Days of Christmas and that has helped the kids understand that it's all about the giving not the getting. We also watch the Nativity video. We read Luke II on Christmas Eve.

Great picture of Blake with Santa! :)

Your tree looks beautiful!

We play beautiful Christmas music. We read uplifting Christmas stories (when we remember). We take goodies to tons of neighbors and friends. We read Luke Chapter 2 on Christmas Eve...but we still need to do better, because December can really get busy and we can easily lose our focus!

I love Melissa's comments!
