I know that my son might not be all that entertaining to my handful of readers but he cracks me up and I don't want to forget these little jewels that he comes up with.
Last night on the way to Costco, we were singing Christmas Bells because it seems to be eternally stuck in my head.
It goes like this:
"Christmas Bells are ringing..hear what they say to you...Jesus is born in Bethlehem....in Bethlehem. "
After singing through a few times Blake pipes up from the back and says "Mom, why was Jesus born in Ham"
You know that he must have been thinking about this for awhile because we sang this song in primary this Christmas and it's been stuck in my head. I guess we all need to enunciate a little better..LOL
**Sidenote: This is my 202nd post. I'll try to think of some fabulous post to mark the occasion but if you have any ideas, I'd love to hear it.

Funny Boy
The other day in the car, hubby and I were having a conversation with Blake and he started talking about getting married. He said he knew who he was going to marry now and it wasn't Lexie (sorry Lexie) the girl he's been saying he's going to marry for a long time. He has found someone new. The trouble is that this girl wants to have nothing to do with him. We tried to explain that he didn't need to worry about who he was going to marry for a long long time but his crush won't be "crushed"..LOL Pardon the awful pun. Anywho, the conversation went something like this.
Blake: I'm going to marry Riley.
Us: Oh really, don't you think that might be hard when she won't talk to you and doesn't seem to like you.
Blake: Don't worry Mom, she'll get used to me.
You can't say the child isn't self confident, that's for sure.

In case you were wondering
what your hard earned tax dollars are paying for, here's an example.
My sitter picked up my son from kindergarten Tuesday and on the way back to her house she asked him how his day was and asked what he had done. The conversation went like this
Sitter: What did you do today Blake?
Blake: nothing, we didn't even go anywhere
Sitter: well what did you learn in your classroom?
Blake: nothing
Sitter: what did your teacher talk about?
Blake: I don't know, I wasn't listening
Sitter: Blake you didn't listen to anything she said?
Blake: no, but I will listen to you at your house miss Paula
Oh boy, it's a good thing that this is the first year of school and he'll get a lot more practice.

Latest Blakeisms
This last Saturday, Blake was "helping me" clean up the downstairs. I had the vacuum cleaner going so I had to try to talk over it and direct him in moving things so I could clean under them. Apparently I was starting to get on his nerves after I had told several times to move this one particular thing and he looks at me and puts his hands on his hips and says " Mom, you are driving me inpain"
Yesterday after his dad had finished saying quite a lengthy blessing before dinner, Blake didn't even miss a beat as he said "Dad, I think Jesus would say "Tim, that's quite enough" Out of the mouths of babes. He cracks me up. I think I have marks on the inside of my cheek from trying not to laugh.
I have more to post about but I'll have to get to it later. I had to get these down before I forgot them.

To young for politics?
Last night my hubby and I were watching the debate in South Carolina between the Republican candidates and my husband says to my son
"Blake, are you going to be a Republican or a Democrat?"
My son says
"A democrap"
Now, I don't mean to offend anyone because it would have been just as funny if it had been Republicrap. We just laughed out loud. I'm going to be sad when he starts saying everything right.

Never to early to plan
This morning Blake was "talking" on his toy cell phone so I asked said "Hey Blake who are you talking to?" He says "I'm calling Chuck E Cheese for my next birthday".
I guess he's not going to be a procrastinator like his mom.

Pondering life
Lately, my son has been really starting to ponder life and has been asking all kinds of questions about various topics. It's been really fun to watch him try understand at a deeper level all the things that go on around him. I often don't know how to answer the questions that he comes up with but I do my best. Here is a little gem from last night. He is sitting on the toilet and I'm in the computer room which is nearby when I hear "Mom, why does my food turn into poopy?" To which I so cleverly answered him "Well, it just does honey" which seemed to satisfy him for the time being. He also brought home some "work" from preschool that he did which was a self portrait and I noticed that he had drawn really big ears on himself so I said "Blake, why are your ears so big" and he said "So, I can be a better listener" If only I had known that earlier, I would have had his real ears enlarged. He's also starting to get a little "big for his britches" as my mom would have said, which results in comments like this. I picked him up from preschool and when he's had a good day, I usually give him some kind of treat like a couple of starburst or some kind of candy. Well it just so happened that I got a phone call right when we got in the car so I couldn't attend to the "treat" duty right away. He lets us get about halfway home (I'm still on the phone) and he says "Mom, excuse me, you are really cutting into my getting a treat time". At least he said excuse me right?

Overheard at my house
This last week the dryer died and my son said
Him: "Mom, I know why the dryer died"
Me: Oh yeah, why?
Him: "Yep, you used it to much"
Why didn't I think of that? I knew that I did too much laundry but now I have proof. What a smart boy :o)

Conversations with a 4 year old
We're sitting at the dinner table together (this and the car seem to be the best recipe for good conversation) when my son looks and me and says
B: Mom, am I a brother?
Me: No honey, you aren't a brother
B: Why not?
Me: Because you have to have a brother or sister to be a brother
B: Why don't I have a brother or sister?
Me: Well, daddy and I have only been blessed with one child so far and you are it
B: Well, I want to be a brother, can we get a brother or sister?
Me: We would love to have another baby but I just don't know if we will or
B: Oh, I don't want a baby
Me: What do you want?
B: I want a boy or girl like me so we can play, babies can't play
Me: Well, I guess we'll just have to see what happens
B: Okay, well I guess we'll just have to get a dog then
Well, why didn't I think of that..LOL But seriously, it's the first time he has realized that he is a only child. It kind of breaks my heart because I've always wanted to have more children. I grew up thinking that I would someday be a mommy and I would have 4 children. It turns out that I am not entirely in control of these things (imagine my surprise) We were blessed to have Blake just drop out of the heavens to us. I don't think lightning will strike twice and I'm almost 36 so when will I just get over it and realize that this just might be it. I hope that he doesn't grow up feeling somewhat slighted that he is the only one. We'll just have to see what happens next and if nothing else. We have two furry children called Max and Cleo (our cats) and maybe we'll just have to get that dog. I hear they are like having another child anyway.
